There was a recent data breach that Adidas has encountered this week. A group of hackers had gained access through a third-party customer support provider allowing them to gain contact information of customers. The information they gained access to was from customers prior interactions with the help desk.
There is no word on how much data was breached or whose data was stolen.
Victoria’s Secret was also the victim of a cyber attack and their website is still currently down. I just verified. Not much is known yet of this attack.
In recent months, other companies have had their share of attacks and data breaches showing that retailers have become targets for cyber criminals looking to score big.
It is more important now than ever before that all retailers big and small that function online need to beef up their security or risk losing trust and customers.
I heard about the Adidas breach but I didn't know the other company got hit too. That is the lingerie company, right? I am guessing this is messing up their sales. I know the brand is quite large.
I think you are 100% correct that companies need to take security measures way more seriously and invest more into them than they do.
This sort of thing happens every year, multiple times a year to different companies. This is why I am so careful with who I do business with and how I shop online. I never use card numbers and I use alias shipping names. I only use PayPal when shopping as it adds that extra layer of security for me.
