For anyone living in America, when you think of scams you likely don't consider political ones. You think of e-mail phishing, bank wiring, and those such scams. Shockingly, in the last 12 months a study found that 52% of Americans have encountered political scams. From everything from gaining access to information to outright stealing your money. Mixed with AI, it is becoming more and more of a problem.
I think because it is an Election year and there are a few on-going wars, people need to be made more aware of this. Especially younger folks on social media and dating apps as well as older folks that can easily get scammed on Facebook.
I am not really surprised by this. Especially not with how popular and easy AI is to access. Scams like this were a problem 10 years ago. I can't imagine the mess they are making now. I have heard stories of people getting all sorts stolen thinking they were registering to vote.
AI is just going to make this easier for people. I mean look how easy it had become to trick the older population into falling for scams. AI will just allow those that grew up using phones and not computers to fall for stuff as well.
