We have come a long way since the '90s. Back then we only had basic antivirus software. SIEM entered the arena in 2005 by beefing up systems with security practices and protocols as more people were using the internet for things like business and banking. In 2013 EDR became the new standard as it was faster and more secure. MDR and XDR has also been implemented since then with different businesses, individuals and industries using one or more.

Since 2018, we have not had a major contender or updated approach to cyber threats but with AI becoming mainstream, I think one is near. What do you think the future will look like?

AI is going to factor in for sure. I can see it being more reliable and easier to update, costing very little too. We just have to be aware that AI can be used for good as well as evil and it can be used to analyze systems and break through security.

@glitch72 AI will likely take all of our approaches and improve them. We will be able to find better solutions fast but we also have to be aware of the risks. AI will be a tool used for criminals and hackers too.

People are focused on AI but I think Blockchain is being overlooked. This alone will make sure ALL transactions online are safe and secure and I can see it being implemented everywhere online in the next 10 years.

@blueshark007 Ohh good point! I think Blockchain will likely play a big role in security especially for things like banking but also just general online shopping. I hope they do it right and push encryption as well.
