How do you deal with social media scams and security threats? I know there are some tools in place that most of these sites will have but that does not stop from scams, bots, and criminals from trying to get data or details out of people.

I always use extra login security measures. All sites have them now.

Outside of that, I block anything that seems like spam or a bot and I always pay attention to URLs, names, and username tags. I also keep DMs private and only allow people I follow/am friends with to message me.

@dannyglover24 You can keep your DMs private without making your account private? I am curious of what platforms you are using that allow for this.

Using MFA is a great first step. Also avoiding people with unverified apps. A lot of platforms will allow you to block people according to the details that they have signed up with be it unverified, no matching e-mail, or lack of a phone number.

Every platform is a bit different. I am not sure about modern Facebook as I have not used that platform since 2011/2012. I am sure a lot has changed since then. I only use X and there are built in features to protect you. You can turn off DMs, block spam accounts and report them, and you can set up two-factor.

@glitch72 I am not very familiar with Facebook these days either. I will look into options on X. I had no idea they had features like this.
