In your opinion and experience, what would the most effective strategy or plan be for defending against ransomware in 2025? I know we have made a lot of advancements in recent years with AI, would there be a way to utilize this to protect ourselves and businesses against ransomware?

Focus on back-ups and recovery first and foremost. I would say to really ensure this is as good as you can make it because even if the attack happens, you will have options to easily get out of it. This is probably the most cost effective too.

I agree with Jason on focusing on back-ups and recovery. I think this is the first step that is often either overlooked or downplayed when it can be one simple measure to absolutely protect you against most threats.

Okay that makes sense and I can see why you both addressed that first but what after that? What else can be done? I am sure there are other measures I can look into.

@ghpeterson Look into NGAV (Next-Generation Antivirus). These specifically use solutions that use machine learning and behavioral analysis to detect ransomware. It is very useful and helpful for both business and personal use.

Going to look into this more. I have heard of it but never actually researched anything on it to fully understand it. Thanks for the tip!
