I am curious for those that invest in things such as stock and crypto, what are the best methods in protecting your digital assets. Like which programs, sites, or hardware do you use to in order to keep everything safe and secure so you have better peace of mind?
- Encrypt everything you can.
- Make use of MFA protection for all your logins.
- Use end-to-end encryption for all communication apps - text, email, etc.
- Never use public WiFi without a VPN and do not log in to any sensitive accounts over public WiFi regardless.
- Monitor you accounts regularly and make sure back-ups are being made.
- For crypto, use a hard wallet. I recommend a Ledger one.
Just off of the top of my head, that is what I would recommend staring with.
@techtok24 Thanks for this. I keep seeing a lot of people recommend hard wallets and Ledger seems to be the go-to one to get. I will have to see how much these run and buy one soon.
If you want specific software and hardware, I have some recommendations:
When it comes to a secure password managers, Bitwarden is my top choice only second to hosting your own. Not everyone has the knowledge or time to get that going though.
VeraCrypt is a great option for data encryption. It is easy enough to use and you can have important files backed up and fully encrypted.
Ledger Nano X / S is the best for protecting crypto.
Kaspersky Total Security offers virus protection as well as a firewall and file encryption tools to keep you protected against threats.
Authy is my favorite 2FA and the only one I use (unless forced to use Google's).
Windscribe is overall the best VPN. Avoid Nord and Express, they sell your data.
Bitdefender and Malwarebytes will keep your computer and devices safe.
@mnj918 I do use Authy and am working on putting everything on it. I don't think Nord and Express sell data if you pay the monthly fees. I think that has been debunked but I could be wrong. I will check out your other recommendations, thanks!
