I know one of the biggest complaints about requiring ID for signing up and using social media platforms has been the security risk. I think it is worth it to protect kids but I feel like people are justified in being concerned. It had passed in the AU and I believe certain things in the UK require ID now. I think the US and Canada will be next.
How do you think they will handle security for social media sites after requiring ID?
I would imagine if they wanted to do it the smart way, it would be protected on some sort of blockchain system. However, knowing how modern governments function, I have a feeling personal details will eventually be leaked. I don't think enough people in positions of power (mostly older folks) understand cyber security,
it would be protected on some sort of blockchain system
This is the ideal approach but I have not looked into the law or anything AU is doing. I just know that they passed the law and will require ID. I don't know if this is for everyone or if you have had longstanding accounts, you are in the clear.
